Card of the Day - Tree Angle

Hello and welcome back! I'm continuing with Christmas cards today with another new set.

Since this stamp set is photopolymer, these triangles are pretty easy to line up, whether you stamp before or after you die cut the pieces. I added the star to the top of the largest tree for a little bling. The sentiment is stamped on a strip of Whisper White and trimmed with the Lovely Labels Pick A Punch, then a strip of Real Red was glued to the back before being popped up with dimensionals.

This design was inspired by the sketch challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Card of the Day - Joy & Peace

Hello and welcome back! Well, now that Thanksgiving is over, it's time to get started on my Christmas cards.

Once again, I'm using a stamp set that hasn't been inked yet. But I have a good excuse - it's a new holiday set and this is one of my first holiday cards! The coordinating dies for this stamp set open up lots of possibilities for layering but I wanted to keep this card kind of simple.

This design was inspired by the challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Card of the Day - Sending Sunshine

Hello and welcome back! The next stamp set up in my personal unloved stamps challenge is Sending Sunshine. The timing is perfect for this one because I need a birthday card for my sister-in-law, who just happens to love the beach!

I used the recipe from the Annual Catalog to design the focal point of the card. I stamped the water and the sun, and then masked it to brayer the sand. I then masked the bottom of the card and the sun to brayer the sky. After I added the grasses, rocks, and clouds, I felt like it needed something else. Then I remembered the birds in the My Meadow stamp set. Perfect!

To make the frame, I cut 1-1/4" wide strips from the retired Wood Textures DSP. I cut two of them to 5-1/2" and glued them to a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of scrap cardstock. I then cut two more to 4-1/4" long and mitered the ends at 45 degrees and glued them to the other two sides of the frame. Once I decided how large my stamped piece needed to be, I used my Stampin' Trimmer to cut out the center of the frame. I used my Bronze Stampin' Blends marker to enhance the miters. The stamped panel and the frame were adhered to a Crumb Cake card base. The sentiment is stamped onto Crumb Cake cardstock with Soft Suede ink, then fussy cut and added to the frame with Mini Dimensionals.

I added a bit of Clear Wink of Stella to the sun, just to add a little shimmer. You might be able to see it in this photo.

This design was inspired by the "Frame It" challenge at Inkspirational Challenges.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Card of the Day - Parisian Anniversary

Hello and welcome back! Today's card is an anniversary card for a friend who studied in France when she was younger. I used the same stamp set to make a birthday card for her earlier this year.

I die cut a circle from vellum and embossed it before layering it on the pink cardstock. To die cut the word, I added a bit of a Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet to the back of the cardstock before cutting it. Just peel off the backing and the word sticks perfectly!

I love the silver accents on this DSP!

The design for this card was inspired by the sketch at Just Add Ink.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Card of the Day - Tasteful Touches Birthday

Hello and welcome back! Today's card is a birthday card based on an old sketch from Operation Write Home.

I used Purple Posy for the card base and added a panel of DSP from the retired Twitterpated pack. The Blackberry Bliss ribbon is also retired. The panel with the sentiment is layered with Blackberry Bliss cardstock and popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals. A couple of rhinestones for bling and the card is done!

There's a bit of Wink of Stella in the center of the flower, but it doesn't show up in the photo.

The color combination is from the challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Card of the Day - Pattern Play

Hello and welcome back! Continuing with my unloved stamps challenge, today I've got Pattern Play.

I needed some masculine birthday cards, so I thought this would be a good set to use. I used the hinge-step technique to stamp the card base, and then just added some of the coordinating Playing With Patterns DSP, and a sentiment from Happiest of Birthdays.

This design was inspired by the challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch.

Card of the Day - Menagerie Mix-Up

Hello and welcome back! The next set up in my personal unloved stamps challenge is Menagerie Mix-Up. The timing was perfect, as my son has friends who just had a baby!

There are so many possibilities with this set - with the bodies, eyes, ears, faces, tails - you could probably make at least 15 different animals! Since this is a baby card, for me the logical choice was a lamb. The coordinating die set makes it easy to cut all the parts you need for any critter. The set also includes this cute little garland, which I cut from an old retired glimmer paper, just to add some bling to this card.

This design was inspired by the sketch at Sunday Stamps Challenge.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Card of the Day - Best Anniversary Ever

Hello and welcome back! While today's card is not part of my unloved stamps challenge, I have used some retired paper and embellishments.

As it turns out, I do have several anniversaries this month, and since they are all members of my church, I felt like I needed to give them different cards. Not that they would be comparing, but you never know!

I love the bright and cheery colors in this suite, perfect for this time of year when the light is disappearing and everything looks dreary.

I'll be hand delivering this card because I don't think the buttons will make it through the mail, but they are cute!

This design was inspired by the sketch challenge at Fab Friday Challenges.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Card of the Day - Posted for You

Hello and welcome back! Today I'm back to my personal unloved stamp challenge. I found a card by Sharon Davies on Pinterest and decided to try it with some different colors. Here's my take:

Once again I'm in need of anniversary cards, so I thought this sentiment was appropriate. I wasn't sure if the Terracotta Tile ink would show up on the DSP and thought about using Mossy Meadow instead, but I think it works. I made a couple of adjustments to the original card, adding a layer of cardstock and DSP instead of stamping the background. The original post also had measurements, but the DSP added to the punched pieces needed to be trimmed a bit more to fit. I also added the bow with the new Mossy Meadow braided linen trim that's coming in the January-June 2021 catalog. Isn't it lovely?

A stamped flower from the set on the envelope and the card is ready to go. Remember, no naked envelopes! :)

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Card of the Day - Magnolia Hello

Hello and welcome back! Today's card is a simple stamping example, just stamps, ink, and paper - no embellishments, ribbon, die cuts, or punches. That's definitely a challenge for me, because I like to use everything on my cards!

This card uses the retired Magnolia Lane DSP. I created several cards earlier this year using a One Sheet Wonder diagram, and had these fussy cut flowers left over. I don't like to waste anything, so they've been sitting on my work table ever since, just waiting for the right time!

The Petal Pink motif behind the sentiment was stamped off once to lighten it a bit.

This card was inspired by the challenges at CAS(E) This Sketch and Just Add Ink.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Card of the Day - High Tide

Hello and welcome back! I haven't posted for a couple of days because I've been "attending" On Stage @ Home. I really missed being able to hang out with my stamping friends in Salt Lake City but it was nice to have an opportunity to see some new products and get some training from the home office and other successful demonstrators from around the world. You are going to love the January-June mini catalog when it comes out!

Anyway, today I'm continuing with my personal challenge to use my unloved stamp sets. Here's today's card:

This set has been out for a few years but I only purchased it recently. The design was inspired by a couple of challenges. I stamped the lighthouse on Shimmery White cardstock and then masked it with a sticky note so I could sponge the background.

It's hard to see in this photo but I added some Wink of Stella to the beams of light just to give them a bit more shimmer. I stamped the sentiment on vellum and adhered it with mini glue dots. Unfortunately, they showed through the paper so I added the epoxy droplets to cover them. The black layer was embossed with the Brick & Mortar folder and then sponged with white craft ink.

I'm entering this card in the challenges at Freshly Made Sketches and As You See It.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Card of the Day - Love You More Than Cookies

Hello and welcome back! I don't know if I should really call this "card of the day" since it's my 4th post today! I've finally had some mojo so I thought I should use it. I've also gone out of order on my alphabetical challenge because I needed to use this set.

This card is a direct CASE from the Annual Catalog. I was surprised yesterday with a porch drop of cookies by a family from my church and wanted to send them a thank you. This set is perfect and I really couldn't improve on the sample in the catty.

The only changes I made were to substitute a retired DSP for a current one, a stamped heart rather than a punched one, and I colored the cookies to better match the yummy ginger cookies we received.

Even with the die cutting and coloring, this card went together pretty quickly.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Card of the Day - Special Birthday

Hello and welcome back! This is my third post of the day, since I've been hanging out in my stamp studio to avoid the news. I posted my card-sending accountability chart on Facebook the other day and asked my friends to let me know if there were any upcoming birthdays or anniversaries that I could add to my list.

Well, one of my friends told me that she had just celebrated a special birthday, so I obviously needed to make a special card for her!

I made one similar to this a few years ago, but never blogged it, so I'm making up for it now! This will be hand delivered, so I was able to go a bit crazy with the bow and embellishment. I miss these colors.

And, as it turns out, the challenge this week at Retro Rubber is Anything Goes! The stamp sets I used were from 2016.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Card of the Day - Hand-Drawn Blooms

Hello and welcome back! I've been trying to avoid all the election drama, so I have spent the evening in my stamp studio creating lots of birthday cards. This is actually my second post of the day!

I chose the stamp set for my personal challenge (to use my unloved stamp sets, in alphabetical order). The color combo came from the challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Tools - Big Shot, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Banner Blooms Dies, Stampin' Dimensionals, Mini Stampin' Dimensionals, Multipurpose Liquid Glue

Card of the Day - Plaid Builder Birthday

Hello and welcome back! Today's card uses a stamp set I've used before, but the dies are new.

I love the look of these dies, but popping out all those little pieces is kind of a pain! My die brush didn't really cooperate and there were a few spots that didn't cut all the way through. It's probably time to replace my Big Shot cutting pads...

I felt like the card was too masculine looking so I added the bow and the glitter dots to dress it up. I think the purple dots bring out the purple in the Blackberry Bliss ribbon and ink.

This card was inspired by the sketch challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch and the color challenge at Sunday Stamps Challenges.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Card of the Day - Free as a Bird

Hello and welcome back! Today's personal challenge card was created with a stamp set that I purchased last year when it first came out but hadn't used yet.

I knew I wanted to use the Stitched Nested Labels Dies to frame the birds on the branch but I didn't want to cover the whole card front so I cropped out the fourth bird on the right side of the stamp. I really like coloring with the Stampin' Blends - it's so relaxing!

The color combination in the striped DSP provided the perfect opportunity to use some retired ribbon. Three champagne rhinestones in the corner for bling and the card is done!

This card will be going out for November anniversaries. I've only got 4 this month, compared to the 13(!) I had in October! I never realized October was such a popular month for weddings!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!
