Grad Cards!

Hello and welcome back! Here are a couple more cards for today:

This first card is for the sketch challenge at the Paper Players. I rotated it 90 degrees to fit my design elements.

Both cards share some characteristics: I used the same number dies, the same stamp for the sentiment, and created the graduation cap the same way. But I created each one in the recipient's respective school colors and the second design is different.

You can see in the photo below how I cut two sets of numbers and offset them to create a shadow effect.

This second card started out as a vertical "O" for my nephew's high school, but as I started die-cutting the pieces, things got out of whack and it was easier to just rotate it and change the design a bit. There's still a resemblance to the grad announcement but it's not as obvious now.

I'm entering this one in the Retro Rubber Challenge.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Moon Baby Girl

Hello and welcome back! Here's today's card:

This card was inspired by the challenges at Color Throwdown and Try Stampin on Tuesday. (I rotated the sketch 90 degrees to fit my design.)

A woman I sing with in a community chorale just had a baby girl this week so naturally, I had to make a card! Baby cards are my favorite, and I keep coming back to this stamp set. Normally I would have colored the moon with yellow, but since the color challenge did not include that, I improvised with the gray. The moon really is that color anyway! I stamped the image on Smoky Slate cardstock and added some texture with a moon stamp, then fussy cut it and added it to the focal image. The baby is colored with Stampin Blends and I added a little glimmer paper star. I also painted a couple of the embossed stars on the background with Clear Wink of Stella. I think you can see it in the photo below. Also barely noticeable is the Pecan Pie outline on the scalloped label that I created by edging with the brush end of a Stampin Write marker. It adds a bit of definition, along with popping the piece up with dimensionals.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Cheerful Anniversary Daisies

Hello and welcome back! Here's today's card:

This card was inspired by the challenges at Freshly Made SketchesHand Stamped Sentiments, and Paper Craft Crew.

I used the daisies in the upper left corner of the mood board as my inspiration. The new Cheerful Daisies stamp set was perfect for this card! I added some layering with Fresh Freesia to pop the circles. And I even had some Fresh Freesia Opal Rounds in my stash to add a little bling!

Kind Koala

Hello and welcome back! Here's today's card:

This card was inspired by the Double Trouble Challenge for this week.

I stamped the koala image on kraft paper and colored it in with Watercolor Pencils. The focal image is layered with Soft Sky cardstock and Foil Frenzy Specialty DSP on a Soft Sky card base. I added a bit of Soft Sky seam binding tied around the center and stuck an Iridescent Rhinestone onto the flower center. The corners of the DSP are trimmed to match the die cut.

CAS Daisy Birthday

Hello and welcome back! Here's today's card:

This design was inspired by the challenges at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge, the Paper PlayersSunday Stamps Challenge, and Try Stampin on Tuesday.

I pulled out a really old die for this card! I thought the layers would be perfect to showcase the colors from the Sunday Stamps inspiration photo. And since the Paper Players challenge was to only use one image, I was able to create just one flower! I kept the background simple with just an embossing folder on Basic White cardstock to add a little interest, and I used a Stampin' Write marker to edge the sentiment banner to help it stand out a bit. No bling, no ribbon, just a clean and simple card!

I also created the same design in the other two colorways. The yellow is my favorite - which one do you like best?

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

I didn't order this set from the mini catalog, but when it carried over to the annual catty, I decided I needed it! And a couple of new colors were perfect for the Throwdown challenge.

Can you see the Wink of Stella on the cherry? It's so hard to photograph that!

Timeless Tulip Birthday

Hello and welcome back! Here's today's card:

This design was inspired by the challenges at Freshly Made Sketches and Retro Rubber. I made the tic tac toe three ways - diagonal from top left to bottom right, center row, and right hand column!

The strips with the colored stripes were leftovers from a card I made a few weeks ago. I trimmed them down to get 5 of them to fit the sketch. I added them to a panel of Balmy Blue, then ran that through my Big Shot with the Quatrefoil Tile embossing folder. The tulip was stamped with Fresh Freesia and Pear Pizzazz and added to the front, along with the birthday sentiment strip. I also added a few Iridescent Pearls to enhance the shiny part of the striped paper (it's a resist paper from a few years ago).

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Just for You Butterfly

Hello and welcome back! Here's today's card:

This design was inspired by the challenges at Freshly Made Sketches and Hand Stamped Sentiments.

This card went together pretty quickly with minimal stamping. The background was embossed with the Timeworn Type embossing folder. The circles were cut out of Blackberry Bliss and Pool Party using the Stylish Shapes Dies. Those dies were also used for the sentiment banner. The pieces for the butterfly were also cut from Blackberry Bliss and Pool Party, with the bottom layer stamped for some added texture. A couple of Elegant Faceted Gems were added to the wings and I tied some Mint Macaron ribbon under the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!
