Card of the Day - Always in My Heart Anniversary

Hello and welcome back! I've got several friends that will be celebrating their 40th wedding anniversaries this year and the first is coming up on Valentine's Day. The 40th is the ruby anniversary, so I knew I would have to create something with red and the holiday practically requires it! Here's today's card:

I used the new Always in My Heart stamp set with the coordinating Floral Heart Dies. I was going to use Red Foil Paper but I thought it was a little too bright, so I pulled the red glimmer paper from my stash. I added a piece of an Adhesive Sheet to the back of the glimmer paper before die cutting. It's so much easier to add the die cut to the card front that way! The numbers are from a retired set - Memorable Moments.

I'm always on the lookout for more anniversary-friendly stamp sets, so I was excited to see this one in the current mini catalog.

This design was inspired by the challenge at As You See It and this week's Tic Tac Toe Challenge. I've used the left hand column - red, free, sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

RRCB#66 - Going to the Chapel!

Hello and welcome back! Today's card is for the challenge at Retro Rubber. The theme is wedding cards, but I don't have any of those coming up. I took care of all of those last year, where I had 10 weddings in the span of about 15 months! I do, however, have a need for a special anniversary card, so hopefully, this will do.

And here is today's card:

Since one of the requirements for the Retro Rubber challenge is to use a stamp set that is more than one year old, I dug into my stash and found Memorable Moments, which first appeared the 2013-2014 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog. My husband's cousin and her husband will be celebrating their 40th anniversary this summer, and the family is planning a surprise party for this weekend. Since the 40th anniversary is the Ruby anniversary, I decided to make a red and white card.

The card base is Shimmery White, with a Red Glimmer Paper layer added under the embossed layer. For the focal point, I stamped the label from Memorable Moments and used the retired Labels framelits to cut it out, then trimmed around the stitching so that I could use the same size framelit for the glimmer paper underneath. I also accented the flower centers with Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details, which are almost exactly the same color as the glimmer paper!

Looking forward to surprising them this weekend and celebrating!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

SIP#15 & FMS#205 - Happy Anniversary!

Hello and welcome back! I think I've set a record this week - posting four days in a row! I guess I found this week's challenges especially appealing, and I was also able to combine several of them, so that helped a lot. Today's card is for the Stamp Ink Paper color challenge and the Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I have friends who have an anniversary coming up so this card is for them.

Here is today's card:

This card uses a combination of current and "vintage" products. The En Francais background stamp is one that I will never get rid of - it is one of my favorites! It's stamped in Pool Party to complement the embossed banner.  The sentiment is stamped in Basic Black Archival Ink, and I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to get the words lined up just right. After adding the little Daffodil Delight banner, I felt like it needed just a little more of that yellow accent, so I dug that "vintage" flower button out of my stash. The sliver of doily was sitting on my work table - a leftover from yesterday's card - so I added that too, just below the "vintage" satin ribbon.

I hope my friends enjoy this card and I hope you like it too!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!
