PP 359 - Best Fishes!

Hello and welcome back! Today's card is for the challenge at The Paper Players. 

And here is my card:

I've only inked up this stamp set once, but for some reason today, that goldfish called out to me! I'll be using this card as a belated birthday greeting, so I wanted to make the fish look like a gift sitting on a tabletop. The clouds in the background could be the sky or wallpaper. 

I created the piece for the sentiment by stamping "Best Fishes" and punching it out with the end of the new Everyday Label Punch, and then turning the piece around and punching it again to get the smaller shape. The "tablecloth" has been "blinged up" with some Wink of Stella. You can sort of see it in the photo below. It's really tricky to photograph Wink of Stella, but it adds so much to a card.

Crocheting a temperature blanket - part 2

Hello and welcome back! It's hard to believe, but this is my 100th post! I think it's fitting that it is not a stamping-related post, but a personal one. You may remember that back in January, I posted about a blanket I was creating for my son and daughter-in-law for their first anniversary. (You can find that post HERE.) Anyway, their anniversary has come and gone, but I have finally finished the blanket! 

It turned out a bit bigger than I expected - I guess I crochet too loosely - but the blanket is more than 6 feet square! Lots of room for them to cuddle up under it when the weather turns cooler. But I couldn't get a picture of the whole thing together, so here are two pictures so you can see all the colors.

As you can see, it stretches a little more than end to end on this twin bed, and folded in half, covers it side to side as well.

I tried scrunching it up to get the whole thing in, but it didn't work very well! You can see the top corner where the blanket was started, then worked in diagonal rows to the bottom.

Here is the final corner with the red sparkly yarn for their anniversary. I also added this yarn for Christmas and Valentine's Day.

I had originally planned to edge the blanket with either white or off white, but since I had so much of the royal blue left over, I decided to use that instead.

I'm shipping it off to them tomorrow, and enclosing the two cards below to show them how the colors work.

The first is the color chart with samples of the yarn used, and the second is the temperature chart I used to determine the colors. I also wrote them a note on the back to explain it.

I don't think they'll be able to use it for a while, but I hope they like it!

For the Tic Tac Toe Challenge, I used the top row of the challenge board (acetate, critter, diecut). The acetate is from the Naturally Eclectic Card Overlays. I just used a strip under the sentiment for an accent. The critter is diecut from the Birthday Memories DSP.

And here is my card:

I just received my order with Happy Birthday Gorgeous and the matching thinlit last week, so I was anxious to use it. The adhesive sheets are great to work with for these detailed die cuts. I cut pieces of cardstock in Night of Navy and Powder Pink and then added the adhesive to the back before running them through the Big Shot to cut them. I layered them to give a shadowed look so the sentiment would stand out a bit more.

SSC156 - Tall and Skinny!

Hello and welcome back! Today's card is for the challenge at Sunday Stamps. This is a new challenge for me and also a different type sketch than I'm used to.

This card is for my brand-new grand-niece. She was born a couple of weeks ago, but I was working on a framed art piece and wanted to send the two items together. You can see that piece HERE. 

I've used a lot of retired products on this card, but I have such a big stash that I need to use that stuff up! The card base is Blushing Bride and the stamping is done on Whisper White, but the pink stripe is from the Nursery Nest DSP and the accent at the top is Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper. I just love that Moon Baby! I didn't originally have it on my wish list, but when I found out my niece was expecting, I just knew I had to have it. 

My favorite part of this card is the Wink of Stella - the moon is painted with it.

I think you can even see it in this picture - well, sort of...
