Paper Hugs!

Hello and welcome back! Today's card is for a combo of challenges!

Just Add Ink has a color challenge, The Paper Players has a sketch challenge, and TGIFC has a "no white cardstock" challenge.

Now I know you're looking at this card and saying, "I see white cardstock!" I actually fussy cut a floral motif from a printed black-and-white DSP. The background may be white, but it's not white cardstock, so... 😉

For the color challenge, I used Crumb Cake as the base and added some retired pattern DSP for the colors. I added a little bit of coloring on the floral DSP with a Pacific Point Stampin' Write marker and stamped the sentiment on vellum and embossed it with black powder. I used a couple of mini dimensionals on the back of the punched sentiment hoping they wouldn't be too obvious. You can still see them, but they're not too bad.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Another Special Anniversary!

Hello and welcome back! Today's card is for another couple at my church celebrating their 55th (Emerald) anniversary!

I used the sketch at CAS Colours & Sketches for inspiration and am also entering this card in this week's Double Trouble Challenge

Since I wanted to use hearts for the anniversary card, the only way I could fit them all on the front was to create a slimline card. I love using the green foil for the emerald anniversary!

Any SU! oldtimers recognize those hearts? They were created with a Sizzix Embosslit! Now you know I never get rid of anything in my stash!

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

A Couple of Special Birthday Cards

Hello and welcome back! Today I have two cards created for some special birthdays - no challenges here.

This card is for a friend of my son, who is celebrating her golden birthday this year! I purchased this recordable card online because my son had a copy of a recorded birthday message from his friend's grandmother. Grandma passed away a couple of years ago and we wanted to give her something to remember.

The size was a bit bigger than I expected, so it took lots of flowers to fill it up! The hydrangeas were stamped, then the smaller detail pieces were watercolored with the same color ink using Water Painters and attached with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals. I added Iridescent Rhinestones in the corners after adding the mercury glass layer to the DSP.

I added some embellishment to the inside but didn't want to completely cover the holes from the speaker. The dies from the Eastern Medallions were a nearly perfect fit!

The other card is for a little boy from church who turned 6 today. He shares his birthday with my husband and when I discovered this a couple of years ago, I decided to start sending him cards.

This card is a CASE from the Annual Catalog, but I used Stampin' Blends instead of watercoloring for the animals and the stone walls. This DSP is a perfect background that I never would have thought of if I hadn't seen the sample! The most labor intensive part of this card was the fussy cutting!

Rather than coloring the entire sheep, I just outlined him and colored in the face. It gives a hint of color and emphasizes the white body.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Another Belated Birthday

Hello and welcome back! My consistent (unplanned) theme this year has been that I haven't been sending cards - oops! I spent some time this weekend making a plan to catch up everything and everyone that I've missed. Here is my first "catch-up" card.

Obviously, if I'm going to be playing catch-up, the cards will have to be simple. Fortunately, the challenge this week at The Paper Players is perfect.

The new In Color, Tahitian Tide, is one of my favorites! It's very similar to Tempting Turquoise, which was the first cardstock I ever purchased an entire pack of! I pulled out some old Petal Passion DSP since it has sketchwork on it, and just colored in one bunch of flowers with my Stampin' Blend marker. I added Iridescent Rhinestones to the flower centers for some bling, along with the metallic ribbon.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

From the Herd Magic Card

Hello and welcome back! Today's card is for a friend who has developed an obsession with alpacas! I didn't have any stamps with alpacas, but there's a llama in this set, so I figured it was the next best thing! Here's the card:

And it's a magic card! I found a tutorial by Lisa Curcio and adapted it to fit my image. It was tricky because the image is so large, but I mostly made it work. I should have left a little more room at the top, but my friend was SO surprised!
The design is pretty close to the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches this week, although I did rotate it, so I'll enter it.

The coloring took some time, as did my calculations for the window in the card front. I couldn't use a die to cut the window because my dimensions didn't fit anything I had, so I had to use my trimmer.

This is another of my favorite retired sets that I don't think I'll ever get rid of!

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping (and coloring too)!

Amazing Year Birthday

Hello and welcome back! Today's card is for a friend's birthday. I CASEd it from the Annual Catalog, so no challenges this time.

I changed up some of the colors and used Basic White for the die cut layer instead of the card base color.

I just love using those Opal Rounds as accents! The most difficult part of this card was the fussy cutting, but even that wasn't too bad.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Could You Use a Little Pickup?

Hello and welcome back! Here's today's card:

It's been a while since I've posted, so I combined a couple of challenges to create this card: the inspiration challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments, the weekly challenge at Freshly Made Sketches, and the "anything goes" challenge at Retro Rubber.

This well-loved stamp set is one of the first SU sets I ever purchased, way back in 2006, but I'll never get rid of it! The accessories really bump up its versatility. And the line art is perfect for coloring with Stampin' Blends!

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!
