Moving Forward Birthday

Hello and welcome back! Here's today's card:

I used this week's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches for inspiration.

I have a great-nephew who is turning 3 this week, so this is for him. He and his sister usually get dinosaur-themed cards, but I thought I'd go with something different this year.

I'm pretty sure that this image is a tricycle, even though you can only see two wheels, so I thought it was appropriate for a little guy. The sentiment was stamped on a banner of Poppy Parade and placed to cover up the sentiment that is included as part of the stamped image. The trike and sentiment banner were embellished with Silver Mini Brads and the card front was embellished with some bits from the All The Trimmings Embellishments.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping! (I'm now off to watch the Super Bowl - Fly, Eagles, Fly! 🏈)

Catching Butterflies Birthday

Hello and welcome back! Here's today's card:

This design was inspired by the challenge at Freshly Made Sketches, the stencil challenge at Inkspirational, and the color challenge at Just Add Ink.

I used Shimmery White Embossing Paste with a stencil on the Starry Sky cardstock, then layered it onto a piece of Sweet Sorbet before adding it to the card base. I used Stampin' Blends to color the little girl and the butterflies, and there is Wink of Stella on the butterfly net. I think you can even see it in this photo!

I had to fudge the sketch a bit to get all the elements to work, but I think it turned out really cute! It's going to a young lady at church who recently turned 16.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Get Well From the Herd

Hello and welcome back! Here's today's card:

This design was inspired by the sketch challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches.

I've had these Layering Diorama Dies for awhile but hadn't come up with a card yet that could use them. They make a bigger cut out than the circle in the sketch, but the card is still pretty simple. Most of the work comes from coloring with Stampin' Blends.

I just love these animals - they make me smile!

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Zany Zebras Birthday

Hello and welcome back! Here's today's card:

This design was inspired by the safari animals challenge at Cupcake Inspirations and the sketch challenge at Try Stampin' on Tuesday.

In my collection, I didn't really have many options for safari animals, especially those that would be suitable for a little boy's birthday. Our neighbor's son is turning 3 next week, so this card is for him. There are lots of layers, but it's a pretty simple card.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Paper - Basic White Thick Cardstock; Basic White and Crushed Curry Cardstock; Celebrate Everything DSP

A Couple of Special Birthday Cards

Hello and welcome back! Today I have two cards created for some special birthdays - no challenges here.

This card is for a friend of my son, who is celebrating her golden birthday this year! I purchased this recordable card online because my son had a copy of a recorded birthday message from his friend's grandmother. Grandma passed away a couple of years ago and we wanted to give her something to remember.

The size was a bit bigger than I expected, so it took lots of flowers to fill it up! The hydrangeas were stamped, then the smaller detail pieces were watercolored with the same color ink using Water Painters and attached with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals. I added Iridescent Rhinestones in the corners after adding the mercury glass layer to the DSP.

I added some embellishment to the inside but didn't want to completely cover the holes from the speaker. The dies from the Eastern Medallions were a nearly perfect fit!

The other card is for a little boy from church who turned 6 today. He shares his birthday with my husband and when I discovered this a couple of years ago, I decided to start sending him cards.

This card is a CASE from the Annual Catalog, but I used Stampin' Blends instead of watercoloring for the animals and the stone walls. This DSP is a perfect background that I never would have thought of if I hadn't seen the sample! The most labor intensive part of this card was the fussy cutting!

Rather than coloring the entire sheep, I just outlined him and colored in the face. It gives a hint of color and emphasizes the white body.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Card of the Day - Stellar Birthday

Hello and welcome back! This is my 300th post - that's a lot of cards! Today's card is for a 5-year-old's birthday.

The card base is Misty Moonlight and the next layer is Balmy Blue, which has been inked with Misty Moonlight using Blending Brushes. I die cut it with the largest Stitched Rectangle Die, and then used one of the stencils from the March 2021 Paper Pumpkin kit to add the stars with Embossing Paste. The moon is a die-cut circle of Smoky Slate that has been sponge daubered with Gray Granite ink. The astronaut and dog were stamped with Memento ink, colored with Stampin' Blends and fussy cut. Unfortunately, the dog lost his bone when I did that. :(

This design was inspired by the sketch challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Card of the Day - Dino Tri-fold

Hello and welcome back! A friend at church has a little boy who shares a birthday with my husband, so I decided to make him a card. He will be 4 years old this week, and little guys love dinosaurs, so here's what I made:

I think I used every color of ink that was in the designer paper on the dinos and the sentiments on the back!

I even made a special envelope since this card wouldn't fit into a standard sized one. I decided to hand deliver this card, so I stamped his name too. (You can't see it in this photo, but it's there!)

I can't wait to see the look on his face when he opens it.  It was really fun to make!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Something for Kids!

Hello and welcome back! Today's card is something I don't make very often - a birthday card for a child. Our cousin's daughter is turning three this week, so I thought I'd make something from the dinosaur collection in the current annual catalog. One of the samples caught my eye and I started cutting pieces to make it until I realized there was WAY more fussy cutting than I wanted to do. So I modified it a bit to make it work. Here's the card that appeared in the catalog:

It's a little hard to see behind the watermark but nearly all of the elements (dinosaur, volcano, palm tree, clouds) are fussy cut from one of the designer papers. I was not doing that!  Here's what I ended up with:

My elements are a bit bigger, but I think it works. I have my stamp catalog in Evernote, so I was able to do a search and find a stamp set that had clouds that were about the right size (these are from the This Little Piggy set), but everything else is from Dino Days. I even found a roll of old retired denim ribbon in my stash that seems to be exactly like what is available in the current catalog!

I made two of these cards, so somewhere along the line, one of our other little relatives will be getting one also.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!
