CASEing the Catalog - Pretty Perennials

Hello and welcome back! I haven't CASEd a card in a while, so I thought I'd do this one before the catalog is done tonight!

The original version of this card appears on page 31 of the January-June Mini Catalog. I've changed the colors and the details of the sentiment but it's basically the same card. It always makes me nervous to stamp directly on the card front, so I added a layer of Highland Heather under the front panel to make it stand out a bit more.

I added some ink splatter with my Water Painter and Pear Pizzazz ink for a little texture, then pulled out some old Gingham Gala sequins for some bling.

I couldn't decide which color of ribbon I liked better, so I made one card with each color. Which one do you like most?

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Card of the Day - More Wood Anniversaries!

Hello and welcome back! I mentioned about a month ago that I had several 5th anniversaries coming up this summer, so today's card is for the next one - my nephew and his wife. Their wedding invitation 5 years ago had a similar theme, which I tried to copy on their wedding card, which you can see HERE.

I was inspired by the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and chose 4 different patterns from the retired Wood Textures DSP Stack to create the main panel of the card. I alternated the direction of the grain to add interest. The first panel I made I also used an embossing folder on, but didn't like the look at all.

The jar and wire bale were stamped in Versamark on vellum and embossed with black and silver powder, respectively. The fireflies were stamped in Versamark on Early Espresso and embossed with gold powder. I used my Delicata Golden Glitz ink refill to paint the lights on the fireflies.

The sentiment is also stamped in Versamark on Early Espresso, embossed with gold powder, and die cut with a label from the Field Tiles Dies.

Here's the inspiration sketch.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Card of the Day - Another Dino Birthday!

Hello and welcome back! Today's card is for my great-niece, who is celebrating her 4th birthday.

I have to say, I've gotten a lot of mileage out of this set! Both of my niece's little ones have been the recipient of cards made with these cute dinosaurs, and my great-nephew even got a framed art birth sampler made with this set. If you do a search for Dino Days on this blog, you'll find all of these and more!

Since I used the retired Dinoroar DSP, I was able to make use of some retired Lovely Lipstick cardstock and ink as well - perfect for a little girl who loves dinos! Some Artistry Blooms Adhesive Sequins added just the right amount of bling.

And I couldn't forget the inside of the card.

This design was inspired by the sketch challenge at Paper Craft Crew.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Card of the Day - Hand-Penned Anniversary

Hello and welcome back! Since June is a big wedding month, it is also a big anniversary month. Here's another anniversary card.

I finally got to open a pack of the new Basic White Thick Cardstock for the card base. I added layers of Basic Black and Bermuda Bay, then added the stamped images on top. The circles are glued and the square is popped up with dimensionals. The large flower is stamped in Melon Mambo and the small flower is Melon Mambo stamped off once. I colored in the leaves and stems with the Light Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blend.

The design is from the sketch challenge at TGIF Challenges and the colors are from the challenge at The Paper Players.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Card of the Day - Happiest Wishes

Hello and welcome back! For today's card, I've reached back into my stash of retired products and used a fancy fold inspired by Connie Stewart.

The card base is Pool Party, with layers of Tranquil Tide and Whole Lot of Lovely DSP. The Stitched Circles are Whisper White and Crushed Curry, and the stamping is done with Tranquil Tide. The fold is pretty simple - basically, the front is scored at the 2-1/8" mark and folded back on itself. The wrapped and tied panel is attached on the fold.

I added a layer of Whisper White inside for the sentiment. The outer layer is wrapped and tied with Tranquil Tide Finely Woven Ribbon, and the dot on the exclamation mark is accented with a Glitter Epoxy Shape.

I used the sketch from this week's challenge at Just Add Ink, but I turned it 180 degrees (sort of!).

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Card of the Day - Happy First Anniversary!

Hello and welcome back! This weekend, my DH and I will be heading out of town to celebrate anniversaries with some friends. Their daughter had planned a big wedding last summer, but we all know what happened - they ended up having a small celebration with just family. However, they decided to have a big party this year for the kids' first anniversary and their 40th! This card is for the "kids."

The design was inspired by the invitation (you can see it in the last photo). I like to try to coordinate wedding cards with invitations, like this and this.

The Pearlescent Specialty Paper was a must for this card and the new In Colors Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen were a perfect match for some of the greenery on the invitation. The branches and leaves in Forever Fern and Painted Poppies were pretty close too!

Since the paper is so slick (but absolutely beautiful!), I had to be very careful with my stamping so it wouldn't smudge. Rather than waiting for it to dry, I decided to add clear embossing powder and heat set it so it would be permanent. The embossing also adds dimension to the images.

I wanted to add both colors of ribbon, but it was a bit much with both wrapped around, so I just added a bit at the end into the bow. Then a couple of Elegant Faceted Gems for bling. The envelope was made from some Neutrals DSP from my retired stash.

It's hard to tell in this photo, but the invitation is also on a pearly paper. I wish this photographed a little better!

The design is from the sketch challenge at Fab Friday.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Card of the Day - More Ruby Anniversaries!

Hello and welcome back! Today's card is for more 40th anniversaries that my friends are celebrating this year.

This design is called a vertical trifold window card and was inspired by a video I saw by Wendy Lee. I'm trying really hard to use up some of my stash of retired products so I pulled out the Berry Burst cardstock and Fresh Florals DSP for this. I knew I wanted a foil but couldn't decide between gold and silver, so I went with Lovely Lipstick instead. I think it coordinates pretty well!

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Card of the Day - Just Moved!

Hello and welcome back! Today's card was inspired by the summer challenges at Retro Rubber Challenge Blog and the Paper Players.

While typical summer activities include road trips, or days at the pool or beach, another typical summer activity is moving! And that's exactly what one of my friends did this week, so here's a card for her.

And in the spirit of the Retro Rubber Challenge, virtually all of the elements (except for the ink and Stampin' Blends) on my card are old - oops, sorry, retro! 😀 I've used the Loads of Love and Loads of Love Accessories (last appearing in the 2011-2012 Annual Catalog) to stamp the focal point, which was cut out with the Stitched Nested Labels. These may be retired, but I'll never stop using them! The DSP is from 2011, when Pool Party was an In Color. The only current paper here is the circle of Gray Granite cardstock - even the white is Whisper, not Basic!

I used the Cloudy Day embossing folder for the sky and the Starburst Framelits for the sun. The DSP on the bottom was trimmed with the Fringe Scissors.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Card of the Day - Heartfelt Sympathy

Hello and welcome back. Today's card is one I wished I didn't have to make. One of my friends who was expecting a baby girl next month lost her precious angel at 34 weeks. I can't even imagine what she and her family must be going through.

This design was inspired by the challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments.

Thanks for stopping by.

Card of the Day - It's For You!

Hello and welcome back! Today I have another birthday card.

I wanted to use this DSP from Sale-A-Bration this year, so I consulted my trusty Color Coach to come up with this combination. The cardstock colors are all current, but the other elements are all retired. The candles are from an old builder wheel stamp. I unmounted all of my wheel stamps a few years ago and backed them with EZ Foam so I can use them in my Stamparatus. It works really well and they take up a lot less room!

This design was inspired by the sketch challenge at Paper Craft Crew.

Card of the Day - Sapphire Anniversary

Hello and welcome back! Today's card is for my upline's 45th wedding anniversary.

The 45th anniversary is the sapphire anniversary, so I looked for something in my stash that was blue. I found this old Blueberry Crisp DSP to coordinate with Pacific Point cardstock. I also saw this video on YouTube that demonstrated the box pleat I used for the bottom of the card. I had to adjust it a bit since my card is smaller.

This card would have been perfect to enter in the Retro Rubber Challenge this week, but I missed the entry by a couple of hours. Oh well..

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Card of the Day - Tin Anniversary

Hello and welcome back! Today's card is for a cousin celebrating a 10th (tin/aluminum) wedding anniversary.

When I saw that the 10th anniversary was tin, my first thought was this Tin Tile embossing folder. I love the detail in this folder! I embossed the hearts with the Subtle embossing folder and layered them on the front, then added the sentiment die cut with one of the Stitched Rectangles Dies.

This design was inspired by the sketch challenge at Sunday Stamps.

Card of the Day - Peachy Birthday

Hello and welcome back! Today I have another birthday card for you.

Don't you just love these peaches? They look good enough to eat! I inked up the stamp with Pale Papaya ink then used a sponge dauber to add a bit of Calypso Coral before stamping on the cardstock. I love the extra dimension you get with that technique.

I stamped the sentiment in Pear Pizzazz, then stamped over it again with Versamark so that I could add some clear embossing to make the sentiment stand out a bit more. The Stamparatus makes it so easy to do this!

This card was inspired by the recipe challenge at As You See It and the tic-tac-toe challenge at the Paper Players.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Card of the Day - Wood Anniversary

Hello and welcome back! Yesterday I showed you a card for a 19th (jade) anniversary; today I have a card for a 5th (wood) anniversary.

I haven't made too many slimline cards but there was a slimline challenge this week, so I decided to go for it! While a standard slimline card measures 3-1/2" x 8-1/2", mine is a bit larger (4" x 9") so I could fit the large die-cut on the front. I thought I might have to make envelopes for these cards, so I was excited to find some ivory-colored #10 envelopes in my office. They are a perfect fit for this card!

In the summer five years ago we attended several weddings, so all of those couples are celebrating their wood anniversaries this year. For this card I used the Natural Touch Specialty Paper that was offered as part of the Butterfly Brilliance suite in April. It's hard to see in the photos, but the paper is textured like woodgrain.

I originally planned to cut the floral bouquet from Very Vanilla and either sponge it or watercolor it, but then decided to make it easy on myself and cut it from Artistry Blooms DSP instead. I used the vanilla die cuts for the banners, then added a few Pastel Pearls for some bling.

This design was inspired by the challenge at Just Add Ink.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!
