Card of the Day - Country Home Hello

Hello and welcome back! I've taken the week off, but today I'm getting back into my personal challenge. Today's stamp set is Country Home. I bought this when it first came out two years ago, but it has gotten no love from me, until today.

I found a sketch challenge and a color challenge to help inspire my design. The milk can and bouquet are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Stampin' Blends. I needed something chartreuse so I pulled out a bit of the retired Lemon Lime Twist cardstock to make a banner. One I photographed it, I was surprised to see how close the Old Olive Stampin' Blends are to that color.

Of course, after the card was assembled and photographed I thought of a couple of changes I could make. I'd add red rhinestones to the bouquet and use Lemon Lime Twist ribbon instead of the cardstock banner. Oh well, next time!

This card is for the challenges at Color Throwdown and Paper Craft Crew.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Card of the Day - Christmas Means More

Hello and welcome back! Today's card is the next in my personal challenge to use uninked stamp sets. This set just came out in the August-December 2020 Catalog, so it hasn't been sitting around too long.

This set has large sentiments so it lends itself to clean and simple designs. I bunched up the tulle and tied it with some linen thread. It's pretty bulky, so I needed to double up on the dimensionals for the sentiment piece!

The design was inspired by the sketch challenge at As You See It and the colors are from this week's Color Throwdown challenge.

It's nearly November so it's probably time to start thinking about this year's holiday cards. This card will probably need to be hand-delivered because of the bulk from the tulle.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Card of the Day - Celebration Tidings Halloween

Hello and welcome back! I missed posting yesterday for my personal challenge but I'm back at it today. I don't usually make cards for Halloween, but this stamp set was next on my list and I saw a Halloween challenge I could enter. Here's the card:

I used the Celebration Labels Dies to create the card base by cutting a standard base and tucking it inside the die with the folded edge above the die. I got this idea from Jennifer Cotton. The dies cut those little spiders perfectly!

I cut the white panel before stamping the spider webs so I could make sure they fit. I added the chevron ribbon, then popped up the sentiment label on top of that. I edged the sentiment with the Pumpkin Pie marker just to make it stand out a bit. It's hard to see in the photo, but I also added some Clear Wink of Stella to the spider webs and swirls.

I'm entering this card in the challenge at TGIF Challenges.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Card of the Day - Birds & Branches

Hello and welcome back! Well, it's the second day of my attempt to use some unloved stamp sets. Next up - Birds & Branches.

I found a card on Pinterest by Amy Koenders with a design to CASE, but I changed up the colors a bit. Her card was beautiful and you can check it out HERE.

I pulled some retired cardstock colors out of my stash and used ink colors from one of the samples in the Annual Catalog.

I've already pulled the next set for my personal challenge, so let's see how long I can keep this going! It might be hard, because I just got a new box of goodies from Stampin' Up today and an email that said my On Stage swag box is on its way too!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Card of the Day - A Little Lace

Hello and welcome back! Today's card was inspired by a post in a Facebook group that I'm in. One of the members said that she had lots of stamp sets that have never seen ink and that she was going to make a card each day with a never-used set, working alphabetically through her collection, starting with retired sets. I have a feeling that would take me a really long time! But I thought I'd take up the challenge starting with current sets. (I don't know that I'll make one every day, but if I can do a couple days a week, I'll be satisfied!) My first unused set is A Little Lace. I found some design inspiration in the catalog and chose some colors from a challenge blog.

I used the coordinating dies to create the lace background and fussy cut the stamped element after coloring with Stampin' Blends. The sentiment is stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with white embossing powder, then punched with the Lovely Labels Pick-a-Punch

I also added a bit of ribbon and a die-cut oval. If I were to make this card again, I might try stamping the main element on Crumb Cake. It's a little stark on Whisper White, but the colors definitely show up better on white.

This card is for the color challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

More October Cards

Hello and welcome back! Today I want to share some of the other cards I've made this month that weren't entered in challenges. Some are my own design, while others have been CASEd from Pinterest or from Stampin' Up! catalogs.

These first two cards are for wedding anniversaries. For friends celebrating their 40th, which is the ruby anniversary, I came up with the color combination using the retired In Color Berry Burst. I changed out the sentiment on the front for other anniversaries.

This card was CASEd from the Annual Catalog and was made for a cousin who just lost her dog. I colored the dog to match hers and this card is a full-sized one, while the one in the catalog was smaller.

These two cards were made for friends who have just moved into new homes. I used the retired Wood Textures DSP for the doors, matching the color to the actual homes.

This card for October birthdays was also CASEd from the Annual Catalog. The only thing I changed was the ribbon and the pearls (the original used the Butterfly Gems, which I don't have yet).

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Card of the Day - Prized Peony Birthday

Hello and welcome back! Today's card is for a friend who is celebrating a special birthday this week (you know, one that ends in 5). A few months ago, she was waffling on whether or not to order the peony set and I kind of convinced her that she needed it, so I had to use mine to make her card!

I've made a few cards with this set but this was the first time I've made the die-cut flower. It seems daunting, but goes together really easily. A bit of sponging on the Shimmery White Cardstock gives it dimension without being too overbearing. All in all, I'm happy with the result!

I'm hoping to hand deliver this card with a little bundtlet from Nothing Bundt Cakes - her favorite!

This card was also inspired by the birthday challenge at SUO Challenges.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Card of the Day - Wonderful Anniversary

Hello and welcome back! Today's card is for the many October wedding anniversaries among my family and friends.

So it's actually two cards! When I decided to use the Rainbow Glimmer Paper, I realized I could make the same design in two different colorways, one from the top half of the paper and one from the bottom half. I embossed a coordinating panel under the glimmer paper and added the sentiment banner on top stamped in another coordinating color. It still looked kind of plain and I wanted to add a vellum die cut filigree heart, but I couldn't get it to stick to the glimmer paper, so the two-piece stamped heart was Plan B. I think I like this better!

This card was inspired by the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Edited to add: After I posted this, I found out about a Facebook friend who was celebrating her 25th wedding anniversary, so I made a special edition just for her!

Card of the Day - Big News Birthday

Hello and welcome back! Today's card would be perfect for a masculine birthday, or a kids birthday if done in some bright or primary colors.

I started out embossing the Cinnamon Cider panel to make a couple of cards for friends who have recently bought new homes, but decided to go in a different direction for those. I didn't want to waste the cardstock, and the Retro Rubber Challenge offered the perfect opportunity to use them. The card came together very quickly - the most involved part was fussy cutting the candles!

I used the right hand column of the tic-tac-toe board to create this card. The background panel is embossed and I added the metallic copper stars to the candles on this masculine card. The stamp set last appeared in the 2015-2016 Annual Catalog.

I've got a couple of family members with upcoming birthdays who will be receiving this card in the mail.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Card of the Day - Love of Leaves

Hello and welcome back! Today's card is for some upcoming birthdays (and a few belated ones as well!).

Fall is definitely in the air around here, and some of the challenge blogs I follow had fall color challenges this week, so this is what I came up with. Most of the products I used are current, with the exception of the striped DSP. Also, something you can't see, but there is a piece of Always Artichoke cardstock under the stitched background, just to make the stitching stand out a bit more.

This card will be entered in the challenges at Fab Friday, Sunday Stamps, and The Paper Players.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!
