Season of Chic

Hello and welcome back! I can't believe it's been over two months since my last post! If you want to know what I've been doing, check out the ACK!! page on this blog. It's been a fun project, but it has taken up all my spare time. Most of my friends with November birthdays and anniversaries didn't get cards this year; however, many of them did get a chicken. 🐔

Anyway, it's time to get back to making cards and entering challenges. Here's today's card:

For this card I was inspired by the challenges at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge and Color Throwdown.

The sketch is a slimline card but I made mine a standard size. I used the Season of Chic stamp set along with the matching Chic Dies. I pulled out my Stamparatus so that I could stamp the flowers several times to bring out the color. This was a pretty simple card to make.

I've got a lot of birthdays in December so I need to get working on those and I haven't thought about Christmas cards yet! I may have to pull from my stash to get those out on time...

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Textures & Frames Birthday

Hello and welcome back! It's been a while since I've posted a card because I've been preoccupied with another project - ACK!! You can read about that on the ACK! page on this blog. For today, though, here's a card:

I used the challenges at Color Throwdown and CAS Colours & Sketches for inspiration. The colors were perfect for a masculine card, which I have a need for this week.

For the solid circles, I stamped off once with Pecan Pie, then used it full strength for the outer frame. The bars in the center are stamped in Crumb Cake and the sentiment is stamped in Cajun Craze. This card was very quick to put together.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Decorative Borders Birthday

Hello and welcome back! Here's today's card:

This design was inspired by the challenges at Color Throwdown, Freshly Made Sketches, Just Add Ink, and Paper Craft Crew.

Clean and simple cards are difficult for me - I'm a "how many layers is too many?" kind of stamper! I've had this set since last year's OnStage gathering and hadn't inked it up yet. I used my Stamparatus to line up the floral sprays in the corner so they'd be even, added the sentiment in the center, and then colored in the flowers and leaves using the color challenge colors. I had to add a little bling - even a CAS card needs bling! - and the little diamonds at the ends of the floral sprays were the perfect size for the epoxy shapes I had in my stash.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Zany Zoo Birthday

Hello and welcome back! Here's today's card:

This card was inspired by the challenges at TGIF Challenge and Color Throwdown.

I used a fun fold from a Jackie Bolhuis tutorial with Blueberry Bushel cardstock and DSP and a bit of Real Red DSP, which I toned down with a piece of vellum. I really like to layer vellum on top of DSP to mute the colors when necessary. The stamped piece was colored with Stampin' Blends and die cut using the Zany Zoo Dies.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Moon Baby Girl

Hello and welcome back! Here's today's card:

This card was inspired by the challenges at Color Throwdown and Try Stampin on Tuesday. (I rotated the sketch 90 degrees to fit my design.)

A woman I sing with in a community chorale just had a baby girl this week so naturally, I had to make a card! Baby cards are my favorite, and I keep coming back to this stamp set. Normally I would have colored the moon with yellow, but since the color challenge did not include that, I improvised with the gray. The moon really is that color anyway! I stamped the image on Smoky Slate cardstock and added some texture with a moon stamp, then fussy cut it and added it to the focal image. The baby is colored with Stampin Blends and I added a little glimmer paper star. I also painted a couple of the embossed stars on the background with Clear Wink of Stella. I think you can see it in the photo below. Also barely noticeable is the Pecan Pie outline on the scalloped label that I created by edging with the brush end of a Stampin Write marker. It adds a bit of definition, along with popping the piece up with dimensionals.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

I didn't order this set from the mini catalog, but when it carried over to the annual catty, I decided I needed it! And a couple of new colors were perfect for the Throwdown challenge.

Can you see the Wink of Stella on the cherry? It's so hard to photograph that!

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Dots & Stripes Slimline Birthday

Hello and welcome back! Here's card number three for today (I've been busy!):

This design was inspired by the challenges at CAS Colours & Sketches, Color Throwdown, and Inkspirational.

This card went together very quickly. I cut a full-sized slimline base (7" x 8-1/2", scored at 3-1/2"), added a panel of Certainly Celery, then layered on a piece of Basic White that was die-cut with the Dots & Spots Die and a piece of vintage Subtles pattern DSP in So Saffron. The sentiment was stamped in Tahitian Tide and banner-cut before adding to the card front with dimensionals.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

So Much Love Anniversary

Hello and welcome back! Here's today's card:

This card was inspired by the challenges at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge, Color Throwdown, and Double Trouble.

I'm always needing anniversary cards for my stash, so when this set appeared in the new Mini Catalog, it was at the top of my list! I pulled a lot of retired products for this card - good thing I have a big stash! I fussy cut the edge of the lace patterned paper to match the torn edge on the sketch and used ribbon for the solid piece under the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Anniversary Love Notes

Hello and welcome back! Here's today's card:

I used several challenges as inspiration for this card: Hand Stamped Sentiments, Color Throwdown, Shopping Our Stash, and Sunday Stamps Challenge.

My other inspiration for this card is my friends and my sister, who both have wedding anniversaries on Valentine's Day. Their cards usually take on a Valentine theme, and this year is no different! I used a heart in the center instead of the circle in the Sunday Stamps sketch and added little love note envelopes instead of floral accents.

To bring in the colors for the Color Throwdown challenge, I used Soft Sea Foam as the green in the card base and small hearts on the envelopes, kraft paper for the envelopes as the brown, and stamped on the love notes in Blushing Bride for the pink. I think the red is obvious!

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Navy and Gray Birthday

Hello and welcome back! Here's today's card:

This card is for the challenges at Color Throwdown and Try Stampin on Tuesday.

This was a pretty simple card to put together. The birthday cakes were stamped and punched with a 1-1/4" circle punch, then layered onto a 1-3/8" scallop circle punch. The circles were then added to the Smoky Slate piece that had been embossed with the Hive 3D embossing folder. The sentiment was stamped onto a scrap of Basic White, trimmed to a flag and layered on a scrap of Night of Navy, then tucked under the embossed piece. There's a bit of Clear Wink of Stella on the candle flames, but it was hard to photograph.

Apple Harvest Greatest Gift

Hello and welcome back! It was so nice to get back to stamping tonight -- I've been stuck in the spare bedroom of my house for the last week with COVID. I'm still not feeling quite up to par but getting back into my craft room is definitely good for my mood! Anyhoo, here's today's card:

I created this for the challenges at Color Throwdown and Freshly Made Sketches.

I stamped the flowers, apple, and sentiment with Early Espresso, then colored in the apple and flowers with Real Red and Old Olive Stampin' Blends. The apple is popped up on a die cut square and the flower squares were backed with Early Espresso cardstock to make them stand out a bit better. A few red rhinestones were added in the corners for some sparkle.

This was a pretty quick and easy card to put together.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!
