Cue the Confetti!

Hello and welcome back! This week, a couple of challenges called for CAS (clean and simple) cards, so I used a color challenge from another and came up with this.

As someone who has never met a die-cut or embellishment she didn't like, this was a bit of a challenge for me. But I went back to the old "simple stamping" motto - stamps, ink, and paper. And, well, there is a little bit of embellishment! I had a few adhesive iridescent sequins on my table from some old Paper Pumpkin kits, so I decided to put them to work.

This card was inspired by the sketch challenge at the Paper Players, the color challenge at Retro Rubber Challenge, and the clean and simple challenge at SUO Challenges.

And shoot, I just noticed that I put my sentiment in the wrong place for the Paper Players sketch! Oops!

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Calming Camellia

Hello and welcome back! Here's today's card.

I'll be adding a birthday sentiment to the inside, but you could use this card for any occasion.

This card design was inspired by the sketch challenge at the Paper Craft Crew.

I absolutely love Gorgeous Grape! I really should use it more. The flower is stamped onto the Simply Marbelous DSP available during Sale-A-Bration. (I got this brilliant idea from Sue Hickman on Facebook.) It adds more texture to an already beautiful image.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Slimline Happy Birthday

Hello and welcome back! Today's card uses some leftovers from the slimline card I made a few days ago.

For the previous card I die cut two slimline backgrounds, one from Pale Papaya and another from Calypso Coral. I inlaid some pieces of the opposite color so I had all of the leftover available for another card. I've used the same color combination as the other card too, just with different stamps.

I added a few of the Garden Gems for some extra bling. This design was inspired by the challenge at Paper Craft Crew this week. The sketch is a standard card, so I just stretched it for the slimline. The design also works for this week's Tic Tac Toe Challenge. I've used the bottom row - circle, sparkle, free.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Slimline Healing Hugs

Hello and welcome back! I got my first big order from the new mini and SAB catalogs yesterday so I decided to use the Slim Card Dies to make a card for someone in my church choir who recently had surgery.

I used the die to cut the front panel from both Calypso Coral and Pale Papaya, then inlaid some of the pieces. Eventually, I'll make another card from what is left over using the Pale Papaya base. I think this will take some experimenting to feel comfortable with. Once the inner pieces are out, the remaining border piece is very floppy and hard to work with. I thought about using an adhesive sheet but decided against it. Maybe next time...

I tied some Just Jade gingham ribbon around the card front before adding the sentiment but thought it still needed something more. Iridescent Rhinestones to the rescue! The largest ones fit perfectly.

The color combination for this card came from the challenge at The Paper Players and I'm also entering it in the Designer's Choice challenge at SUO Challenges.

Happy 70th Birthday!

Hello and welcome back! This week, one of my husband's cousins is turning 70! We are all getting to be a certain age, so it's definitely worth a special card.

I was inspired by the color challenge at TGIF Challenges and the sketch and celebration challenge at Try Stampin on Tuesday.

Pretty much everything on this card is retired, but I might as well use my stash!

She lives nearby, so I haven't decided yet whether to mail this or hand deliver it. I'm leaning toward the latter.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Whiskey Business Birthday

Hello and welcome back! My half-sister's husband (does that make him my half brother-in-law?) recently turned 60. I didn't know about his birthday until after, so I thought I'd better make him a card!

This went together pretty quickly - the thing that took the longest was waiting for the Crystal Effects to dry! Lots of different colors of Stampin' Blends gave me a pretty decent whiskey, I think. And the Crystal Effects make the decanter and glass look a bit more realistic.

The Inkspirational challenge this week is "Ice," and there just happen to be a couple of cubes in that whiskey glass! :) And the challenge at Paper Craft Crew is "Anything Goes."

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Artistic Birthday

Hello and welcome back! I was purging some old (like from at least 15 years ago!) card magazines but decided to skim through them to see if there was any inspiration left inside. And boy, did I find some! This design was inspired by a card that I found by Dawn McVey.

I used a Blending Brush to add a hint of Petal Pink to the doily, then scattered the flowers from Artistically Inked down the left side of the card. The sentiment fit nicely in the corner.

But the highlight is those sparkly, glittery, Iridescent Rhinestones! They are in the new January-June 2022 Mini Catalog and I will have to order many, many more of these! They are gorgeous in person!

This card is entered in the challenges at the Paper Players and Sunday Stamps Challenge. Don't those flowers remind you of bokeh? They did for me!

True Love Anniversary

Hello and welcome back! Today's card is for upcoming anniversaries.

The only stamping on this card is the sentiments inside and out. The focal heart is a die-cut of True Love DSP which was colored with Stampin' Blends. I layered a piece of Hydrangea Haven Acetate onto Basic White and wrapped it with Petal Pink variegated ribbon before attaching it to the card front, which was embossed with the Subtle Dynamic embossing folder.

The True Love DSP could be used in any color combination since all of the patterns are black and white.

This design was inspired by the sketch challenge at Paper Craft Crew. The original is a vertical sketch but I turned it horizontal.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!

Cookies or Cocktails?

Happy New Year and welcome back! I'm excited to share with you my first cards of 2022!

This card was inspired by the Weird Holidays challenge at Double Trouble. Did you know that December 18 is Bake Cookies Day? Neither did I! I'm also entering this at The Paper Funday Challenge for the Double Dare.

I started out using the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, but made a ink smudge that I couldn't cover up without straying too far from the sketch. I was stamping the cookies onto the DSP to get the crumbs when I dropped the stamp - oops! I decided to cover the smudge with the die-cut and left the fully stamped cookie in the background.

But now I needed another card for the FMS challenge so I recreated it with cocktails!

Here's the sketch I was working from.

I have an old high school friend who is having some serious surgery this week, so I think he'll be getting the "cocktails" card to cheer him up afterward. Please send some positive mojo into the universe for a successful procedure!

Thanks for stopping by, and happy stamping!
