Card of the Day - Rainbow Swallowtail

Hello and welcome back! Today's card was inspired by a couple of rainbow challenges this week.

I pulled the old Swallowtail stamp out (last appearing in the 2015-2016 Annual Catalog). It's stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on Shimmery White Cardstock. I used the Stamparatus to stamp it twice so I'd get a nice dark image. I used my Blending Brushes to add the color to the butterfly.

I added the smaller butterflies to cover up some smudges on the cardstock!

This card is for the challenges at Just Add Ink and Retro Rubber.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Card of the Day - Well Suited Birthday

Hello and welcome back! Today's card is another masculine card for upcoming birthdays.

It was nice for a change to use all current products! I really like this DSP for masculine cards. They are difficult for me because I usually like to add some bling, but I held off this time. 😃

This design was inspired by the sketch challenge at the Paper Players.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Card of the Day - Everything Amazing Birthday

Hello and welcome back! Once again, I'm behind on birthday cards, so I made a stack of these.

This is another one of my sets that had not yet been inked. The Stamparatus is great for lining up the inserted words and stamping a lot of cards. This card uses a mix of current and "vintage" products.

The design was inspired by the challenge at Paper Craft Crew

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Card of the Day - Another Birthday Chick!

Hello and welcome back! Today I've got another card made with the fabulous Hey Birthday Chick set.

I've got a few layers on this card, but otherwise it's pretty straight forward. I found some old retired Chicken Wire Elements in my stash and thought they'd be perfect for a chick card.

The base layer is embossed with the Subtle embossing folder, then I added the chicken wire and a couple of stitched squares. The chick is lightly colored and die cut, then popped up with dimensionals. The sentiment is stamped on a narrow flagged strip and stapled to a bit of Granny Apple Green ribbon before being attached to the card front.

And of course, I had to add the chick in the egg to the inside and the envelope. They are colored with Stampin' Write Markers.

This design was inspired by the sketch challenge at Fab Friday and the challenges at Paper Craft Crew and the Paper Players.

Card of the Day - Paper Blooms Anniversary

Hello and welcome back! I've been trying to catch up on some anniversary cards - I'm not sure why March is such a busy month!

I pulled this sentiment from Woven Heirlooms - it's one of my favorites for anniversary cards. The DSP is cut in a 4" x 5-1/4" rectangle then cut diagonally, and matted on a 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" piece of cardstock. I die cut the scalloped square out of the mat before assembling the card - it's a great way to make the most of your cardstock! The ribbon was wrapped and tied before attaching to the card front, then the sentiment was popped up with dimensionals. Since it's an anniversary card, I added a couple of tiny resin hearts - so cute!

And after cutting the DSP for the front I had a couple of small strips left over, so I added that to the inside of the card.

I also made some cards with the same design but in the opposite colorway.

This design was inspired by the challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. Since these cards will be mailed, I decided it was more economical to skip the square and make these rectangular. I may still do a square card or two...

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Card of the Day - Another Hippo Birthday!

Hello and welcome back! So if I am counting correctly, today's card is my 300th entry into a challenge, so let's have some fun! We have a little cousin who is celebrating her 4th birthday this week, so this is for her.

I fell in love with this set when it first appeared in the catalog - it reminded me of an old Sandra Boynton poster that was making the rounds many years ago.

I'm not sure why, but I always feel like these hippos need to be pink (or magenta)! I added the strips of Rainbow Glimmer Paper for some sparkle. And of course, I had to finish it off with the two ewes inside the card! I stamped them on a scrap of white and die cut them instead of stamping directly on the card base. I had an oops on the first hippo I stamped and I didn't want to worry about it inside the card.

This design was inspired by the challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. I had to add the fourth strip of rainbow because this little girl is turning 4!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Card of the Day - Happy New Home!

Hello and welcome back! Today's card is for a friend who has just moved into a brand new, built-just-for-her home.

The Coming Home stamp set was perfect for this card. It has several house fronts that you can mix and match. These two pieces almost perfectly match my friend's new home! I colored them before I drove by today and saw that her door is white - oh well! There's also no landscaping yet, but maybe someday she'll have a tree like this too!

For the inside, I used the house piece that wasn't needed for the front, plus an additional tree.

This design was inspired by the sketch challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments. I recently discovered this challenge blog, so I'll be adding it to the list of places I like to play along.

Card of the Day - Blended Resist Birthday

Hello and welcome back! I've had a busy couple of weeks back at my day job, but there are several birthdays coming up that I needed to get some cards out for.

I love using the Blending Brushes and my stash of resist paper gave me another opportunity to try them out! I chose three different patterns and used a different color of ink on each one. I just matted them on Basic Gray, added a flagged sentiment piece and a twine bow, and done - easy peasy!

The trick to using this resist paper is that once you've sponged or brushed the ink onto it, you need to wipe it with a paper towel to get the ink off the resist part. Otherwise, it just looks muddy rather than the shiny effect you see above.

This design was inspired by the challenges at CAS Colours & Sketches and Freshly Made Sketches.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!
