Card of the Day - Bubbles & Fizz

Hello and welcome back! Today's card is for some upcoming birthdays, and it's perfect for the guys.

I've been wanting to make one of these for awhile and a sketch challenge this week seemed to fit the design.

I pulled out some old Bubbles & Fizz DSP from a couple of years ago. One of the patterns is perfect for the dies to cut out the bottles. I added the silver foil bottle cap and popped the bottle up on the piece that spans the front of the card.

This design was inspired by the challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Card of the Day - Blended Background Sympathy

Hello and welcome back! I made today's card to add to my sympathy stash. A couple of friends have lost loved ones this week and I didn't have anything ready to go.

Dear Doily was one of my favorite sets when it came out a couple of years ago and it's perfect for a sympathy card. I purchased a couple of sets of the Blending Brushes when they came out but have only tried them once. They are so smooth, I don't think I'll ever use sponges or daubers again! I stamped the words first, then did the blending, and finally added the doilies.

They are hard to see, but I added tiny Epoxy Shapes to the center of the small motifs.

I made two sets of cards, one with the Coastal Cabana at the top and one with the Gorgeous Grape at the top. Both have Balmy Blue in between.

This card was inspired by the challenge at Just Add Ink.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Card of the Day - Hey Birthday Chick!

Hello and welcome back! For today's card I raided my substantial stash of retired products for some DSP, cardstock, and a background stamp. Here's my card:

I still have the old "Hey Chick" set in my collection from four years ago, so when I saw the "Hey Birthday Chick" set in the new mini, I just knew I had to have it. It seems that I was not the only one who felt that way, because Stampin' Up! decided to bring back the old set AND create dies for both sets! So much fun!

For this card, I used Gumball Green for the card base, an old In Color from about 9 years ago, and I pulled out a coordinating DSP, Print Poetry. The background on the oval is the Netting stamp, also an oldie but goodie.

The chick with balloon is colored in with Stampin' Blends and popped up with dimensionals. I love that die-cut Happy Birthday!

And I didn't forget the inside - the little chick is also colored in with Stampin' Blends.

This design was inspired by the sketch challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Card of the Day - Honey Bee Birthday

Hello and welcome back! Today's card is for a high school friend who is a beekeeper. I used this set to make her card last year and searched Pinterest for a new idea this year. When I found Teri Pocock's gorgeous card (here's her post), I couldn't NOT make it! Here's my version:

This swing tent card was one I hadn't seen before. Teri's video tutorial explained everything so well that it wasn't too difficult. The only change I made was to cut an oval in the front instead of a rectangle.

The one element I wasn't sure I'd be able to replicate was the coloring on the flowers. Teri used the Delicata Golden Glitz reinker and an Aqua Painter, but the reinker only lasted through one mini catalog and I didn't buy it at the time. So once again, I put in a call to my upline and she just happened to have it! It is so pretty - the photos don't do it justice!

I also had a nice long phone call with a friend this afternoon and told her about this card. She told me that she had just ordered bee earrings for herself and her daughters. The company she purchased them from is working to help the bee population, so I'll be sending her one of these cards as well.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Dino Days Baby Framed Art

Hello and welcome back! Today's project is something I've been putting off for waaaaay too long! My niece's little boy is turning one next week and I never made the framed art piece I planned. And since I made one for his older sister (you can see that HERE), I knew he needed one too. Since his birthday is coming up, I figured this would be a good time to make and send it.

My niece has dinosaurs everywhere for both of the kids, so this was a no-brainer! The center piece was CASEd from last year's Annual Catalog. I finally had a chance to use one of my new Blending Brushes on the egg shell. I loved it, and will definitely try some more techniques using them!

I was excited to get a sheet of the Pretty Peacock foil paper from my upline's stash - it was perfect for the letters.

And here's what it looks like all framed and ready to be shipped:

I'll have to include a note begging for forgiveness! 😊 Tomorrow, I'll be posting Holden's birthday card, so come back and check it out!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Card of the Day - Plaid Anniversary

Hello and welcome back! Today's card is for my sister and brother-in-law's anniversary.

I created this card with a couple of challenges in mind, so that's where the color combination and plaid design come from. I used the Buffalo Check stamp in Just Jade and turned it into a plaid by drawing lines with the Bumblebee and Blushing Bride Stampin' Write Markers. The lines are very subtle and it's hard to tell what colors they are, so I added the layers of cardstock to help bring them out.

The challenges are the color challenge at Fab Friday and Stesha Bloodhart's plaid challenge at TGIF Challenges.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Card of the Day - Hydrangea Haven

Hello and welcome back! Today's card is for a friend with a lovely garden whose birthday is coming up this month.

I fell in love with this stamp set as soon as I saw it in the catalog, and the DSP that coordinates with it is luscious! I love hydrangeas but have absolutely no luck with them in my garden. So I'll have to settle for the paper ones!

I stamped the flower head in Balmy Blue and layered the die cut on Misty Moonlight to make the petals stand out. The leaves and stem are stamped in Old Olive, then the die cut leaves were layered on top. I used a piece of Adhesive Sheet on the cardstock to help the leaves adhere better. It's the best for delicate die cuts! I embossed a piece of vellum and layered it over a piece of DSP. I love the look of embossed vellum - it's one of my favorite techniques, and it's super easy!

This design was inspired by the sketch challenge at Paper Craft Crew and the tic-tac-toe challenge at the Paper Players. I went from upper left to lower right - die-cut, embossing, blue.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!
